Raising a toast to the Bakers’ Union

IT HAS become something of a labour movement tradition to make terrible jokes when writing about the Bakers, Food and Allied Workers’ Union. 

So you’ll be pleased to hear that this column will be no exception.

“Bakers make it a dozen,” thundered yesterday’s Morning Star, as we announced that the BFAWU had become the 12th national trade union to join the board of the paper.
