Peace campaigners march from Swansea to Cardiff Bay demanding a Senedd debate on Gaza

PALESTINE peace campaigners finished a gruelling march from Swansea to Cardiff Bay at the weekend to deliver a letter demanding a Senedd debate on Gaza.

Organised by the Palestinian community in Swansea and Cardiff, around 60 marchers arrived at the Senedd to hand the letter to Speaker Elin Jones.

Members of the Cardiff Palestine community turned out to welcome the peace marchers with watermelon, tea and cake.

A harrowing message from Dr Ahmed Sabra, the Swansea-based doctor held in Gaza before his eventual release, was read out.

The letter to the Senedd said: “History will judge us all with the war crimes and genocide that is being inflicted in Gaza.”

It demanded that the Senedd debate recognise the state of Palestine, accept that war crimes are being committed and demand the immediate ban of military exports.

The letter also called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and for the people of Wales to say that the crimes in Gaza are not being conducted in our name.
