Patients overwhelmingly support underpaid and overworked striking NHS staff, poll finds
‘Patients and parents see right through the divide-and-rule tactics of this Conservative government,’ TUC general secretary Paul Nowak says
Royal College of Nursing (RCN) chief executive Pat Cullen joins RCN members on the picket line outside University College Hospital, London, as nurses take industrial action over pay

PATIENTS overwhelmingly support underpaid and overworked NHS staff going on strike, TUC-commissioned research published last night reveals.

The union body hailed “large-scale support” for nurses, ambulance staff and other health service workers who launched national industrial action against years of austerity wages and declining patient safety last month.

The poll came as thousands of nurses across England and about 1,000 ambulance staff in Wales downed tools for another 24-hour walkout yesterday, ahead of what could be the biggest ever NHS strike next month.
