Israelis continue attacks on Gaza killing at least 11 Palestinians

HOSPITAL officials in Gaza said at least 11 more Palestinians were killed by Israeli attacks today.

Officials from the al-Awda Hospital said seven of those killed were civilians attempting to reach desperately needed aid. The killings occurred as a new aid flotilla left Spain aiming to breach the blockade.

Witnesses said Israeli troops opened fire on crowds in the Netzarim Corridor, an Israeli military zone that bisects Gaza.

“We were trying to get food, but we were met with the occupation’s bullets,” said Ragheb Abu Lebda, from Nuseirat, who saw at least three people bleeding from gunshot wounds. “It’s a death trap.”

The corridor has become increasingly perilous, with civilians killed while approaching United Nations convoys overwhelmed by looters and desperate crowds, or shot on their way to sites run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, a United States and Israel-backed contractor.

Neither the GHF or the Israeli military have immediately commented.

The latest killings came just days after the US revoked the visa of the Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and 80 other officials ahead of this month’s UN general assembly in New York.

The Palestinian president was due to appear at the UN’s main annual meeting as well as an international conference about creating a Palestinian state.

His office on Saturday urged the US government to reverse its decision to revoke his visa, which the White House claims was taken due to national security interests.

Palestinian presidential spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh said: “We call upon the American administration to reverse its decision. This decision will only increase tension and escalation.

“We have been in contact since yesterday with Arab and foreign countries, especially those directly concerned with this issue. This effort will continue around the clock.”

He urged countries to put pressure on the Trump administration to reverse the decision.

The September 22 conference, which aims to revive efforts for a two state solution in Israel and Palestine, is co-hosted by France and Saudi Arabia.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said he “deplores” the US decision and the UN headquarters “should not be subject to any access restrictions.”

Tens of thousands of Israelis demonstrated on Saturday in Tel Aviv to demand the government abandon its plans to occupy Gaza City and immediately sign a ceasefire and captive-prisoner exchange agreement with Hamas.

“Today, I feel we are being lied to. I think the necessary effort was not really made then and is still not being made now,” said Tuval Haim, whose brother Yotam was among three Israeli captives killed by the Israeli army in December 2023.
