Israeli president confronted by hundreds of protesters demanding his arrest
Campaigners from the Palestine Solidarity Campaign take part in a protest outside Downing Street, London, to oppose the visit of Israeli President Isaac Herzog, September 9, 2025

WAR criminal Isaac Herzog was confronted by hundreds of protesters demanding his arrest on Wednesday evening as he continued his visit to Britain.

Protesters banged pots and pans demanding action for those being starved to death in Gaza, as the Israeli president arrived at Chatham House in London.

Speaking at the think tank, Mr Herzog said his government “reject(s) the notion” that there’s any famine in Gaza, claiming that “tons and tons” of aid was being delivered across the border.

He said that he had invited British officials to send a “fact-finding mission” so Israel can “ show the difference between what is reported and what is happening on the ground.”

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Keir Starmer welcomed Mr Herzog at Downing Street.

The Israeli president said he had “a very frank and open discussion” with Sir Keir, adding: “It was a meeting between allies, but it was a tough meeting.”

A statement from Downing Street said that Sir Keir urged Israel to “stop the man-made famine from worsening further by letting aid in and halting their offensive operations.”

Sixty cross-party MPs and peers called on the government to deny Mr Herzog entry to Britain ahead of the meeting.

Palestine Solidarity Campaign director Ben Jamal said the “sickening spectacle” of Sir Keir welcoming Mr Herzog at Number 10 “underlines the complicity of this government in the Gaza genocide.”

“Our government remains a firm ally of a nation that has slaughtered over 60,000 people including 20 000 children, is deliberately starving the remaining population, and is currently attempting to destroy every large building in Gaza City forcing 200,000 people to flee.

“Starmer shook the hand of Herzog and sat down to tea with him, a head of state whose genocidal comments supporting collective punishment of Palestinians were cited by the ICJ in its finding that there is a plausible risk of genocide in 2024.

“Herzog belongs in The Hague, on trial for war crimes, as thousands of protesters made clear as they chased him around London, forcing him to hide like the criminal he is.”
