NATO secretary-general Jens Stoltenberg has accused Donald Trump of putting the safety of alliance members in jeopardy.

This came after the Republican presidential frontrunner said Russia should be able to do “whatever the hell they want” to members of the Western alliance who fail to meet their military spending targets.

On Sunday, Mr Stoltenberg said: “Any suggestion that allies will not defend each other undermines all of our security, including that of the US, and puts American and European soldiers at increased risk.”
