Former Tory MP accused of encouraging Ukrainian special forces to target Canadian journalist

FORMER Tory MP Louise Mensch has come under fire after she was accused of encouraging Ukrainian special forces to carry out a hit on Canadian journalist Eva Bartlett.

Ms Bartlett has been reporting from the eastern Donbass region, where she has been documenting the aftermath of a missile attack on a detention centre in Yelenkova in which more than 50 Ukrainian prisoners of war were killed.

She was asked by another account on social media platform Twitter whether she was on the ground, to which she replied that she was.

Ms Mensch immediately commented underneath: “Hear that @SOF_UK?” tagging the official Twitter handle of the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine.

Twitter users accused Ms Mensch of “incitement to murder,” with a number saying they had reported the tweet, which remained online at time of writing.

Efforts have beeb made to reach Ms Mensch for comment, however she has not yet responded.

Earlier this month, Ms Bartlett’s name appeared on the notorious Myrotvorets (Peacemakers) kill list, which has added some 200,000 names since it was established after the 2014 Maidan coup.

A number of those named on the list have ended up dead, including Italian photojournalist Andrea Rocchelli, who was shot by Ukrainian armed forces in the Donbass in 2014.

Mr Rocchelli was accused of collaborating with “pro-Russian terrorist organisations.” A file was found in the Myrotvorets Centre with the word “liquidated” written over his photograph.

Last week the Morning Star revealed that a similar organisation publishing details of those deemed enemies of Ukraine online, including children, is operating from a London office.
