ENVIRONMENTAL concerns were raised at First Minister’s Questions today as opposition leaders quizzed Senedd leader Lesley Griffiths about clean air and bus travel.

Welsh Conservative leader Andrew Davies wanted to know when the government would introduce a clean air act as it featured in Labour’s manifesto.

“This year,” Ms Griffiths replied.

Mr Davies had a second attempt at the question linking the clean air act with the Welsh government looking for further powers for gender recognition.

An exasperated Ms Griffiths said: “As I said in my first answer to you, it will be this year.”

Plaid Cymru leader Adam Price linked today’s publication of the roads review with a cut in support for bus services. 

Ms Griffiths said that 30 per cent of bus users had not returned following the pandemic and argued that Welsh government funding had saved the privatised bus industry.

She also said that the funding for bus services would continue for a further three months.
