Hundreds march on Downing Street demanding urgent reform to protect renters from cost-of-living crisis
Representatives from Renters' Reform Coalition hand in a petition to 10 Downing Street in London, demanding immediate action from the Government to address the situation for renters and ensure safe, secure and affordable homes for all

HUNDREDS of housing activists marched on Downing Street today demanding urgent reform to protect renters amid the worst cost-of-living crisis in generations.

Tory ministers must immediately introduce a long-delayed renters’ reform Bill and end Thatcher-era “no-fault” evictions, a coalition of campaigners said.

In April 2019, then prime minister Theresa May — four Tory leaders ago — announced that private landlords would “no longer be able to evict tenants from their homes at short notice and without good reason” using widely condemned section 21 orders.
