Outsourced hospital staff in Liverpool set to return to in-house
Staff on a NHS hospital ward at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital

HUNDREDS of outsourced staff in two NHS hospitals in Liverpool are set to return in-house, Unison announced today.

About 670 cleaners, porters and caterers at the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen will be transferred onto direct NHS contracts from April 1, the health union confirmed.

The change, which will “likely represent a significant pay increase and improvements to leave and pension offerings,” follows a merger of hospital trusts in the city in 2019 that created the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
