Government and health unions resume negotiations in bid to resolve bitter pay dispute

TALKS between health unions and Tory ministers to resolve bitter NHS pay strikes got underway today.

The Department of Health and Social Care began negotiations with unions representing ambulance workers, physiotherapists, nurses and midwives.

The government had originally invited just the Royal College of Nursing to the table, but last week’s announcement of escalated ambulance walkouts by the GMB union forced ministers to widen discussions.
