MEN’S FOOTBALL: James Milner moved into second place in the Premier League’s all-time appearance list when he started for Brighton in their 0-0 draw with Wolves on Monday night. After debuting at his home-town club Leeds United Milner has gone on to play in 633 Premier League matches with Newcastle, Aston Villa, Liverpool and Manchester City. Gareth Barry currently tops the Premier League appearances table with 653 games.
SPEEDWAY: On the eve of their return to the Premiership after a ten year absence Birmingham have completed their squad with the signings of Poland’s Piotr Pawlicki and Vaclav Milik from the Czech Republic. Pawlicki, who won the under 21s world championship in 2014, has previously raced in Britain for Poole, Coventry and Wolverhampton. Milik, an eight-time national champion, has two seasons’ experience at Poole and Kings Lynn.
WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Chelsea will secure a place in the Champions League’s knockout stages with a win against Real Madrid in their Group D match at Stamford Bridge tomorrow evening. Gothenburg’s Hacken FC will join the Londoners in the last eight if they beat Paris FC. Tonight’s other fixtures see Roma host Bayern Munich and Paris St Germain up against Ajax. Holders Barcelona and Lyon have already qualified for the quarter finals.
