PRODUCTION of weapons for Israel came to a halt at a Yorkshire factory today when activists from Palestine Action occupied the building’s roof.
US-owned Teledyne Defence and Space manufactures components for missiles, electronics, gunsights and munitions for the Israeli military at Shipley, near Bradford.
A Palestine Action statement said: “Breaching security, the activists scaled the factory to take the roof, forcing the site [to close] and rendering it unable to fulfil its shipment of weapons parts to be used in the Gaza genocide.
“Teledyne Defence and Space boasts of its involvement with missile products procured by Israel, including the AGM-Harpoon, AIM-120 AMRAAM and AGM-114 Hellfire missiles deployed by Israel against Gaza — the latter reportedly being used to strike al-Shifa hospital.”
The West Yorkshire factory is the scene of regular protests by Palestine supporters.
In 2022, Palestine Action raided Teledyne Labtech at Presteigne in Wales, causing the company to lose £1 million, according to the direct action group.
