Labour 'would fit all new schools with sprinklers'
Shadow education secretary Angela Rayner

A FUTURE Labour government would ensure all new school buildings are fitted with sprinklers, the party announced today.

Shadow education secretary Angela Rayner said Labour would also remove asbestos and flammable cladding from schools under a £14 billion plan to ensure safe classrooms.

She said government figures showed fewer than three in 10 schools in England built under a major programme had sprinklers.
