SPANISH Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy called yesterday for a strong anti-separatist turnout in next month’s snap elections in Catalonia.
Mr Rajoy’s first visit to Barcelona since invoking article 155 of the constitution to suspend the autonomous community’s government came the day after hundreds of thousands of people demonstrated in the city for the release of jailed regional ministers.
Mr Rajoy told members of his conservative Popular Party in Barcelona: “We want a massive turnout to open up a new period of normality” after the December 21 election.
