MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Table-topping Wakefield Trinity maintained their 100 per cent record in the Championship after coming from 12-6 down at half-time to brush aside Batley 34-12.

Relegated team from the Super League last year, Trinity have a six-point lead over Sheffield, who had comfortably seen off Halifax 28-0, with Toulouse and Bradford a further three points back following their 12-12 draw in France at the weekend.

WOMEN’S ATHLETICS: Two-time Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon continued to warm up for this year’s games by breaking her own 1500-metre world record on Sunday.

The Kenyan clocked 3:49.04 to win the Paris Diamond League event, with Australia’s Jess Hull in second and Laura Muir setting a new British record over four-and-a-half-seconds behind Kipyegon in third.

British champion Georgia Bell was fifth in a new personal best time.

NETBALL: Manchester Thunder Goal Attack Lois Pearson was named as the Super League Players’ Player of the Year at their end of season awards evening.

London Pulse’s Funmi Fadoju was second with Manchester’s Imogen Allison third.

London’s Izzi Phillips picked up the Young Player of the Season prize, and Mary Cholhok from champions Loughborough took home the leading scorer’s award for the fourth time in six seasons.

MEN’S CYCLING: Tadej Pogacar leads Remco Evenepoel by 33 seconds and is one minute 15 seconds ahead of defending champion Jonas Vingegaard as the Tour de France heads into tomorrow’s stage 10 from Orleans to Saint Amond-Montrond.

Anthony Turgis won Sunday’s stage, that included 14 gravel sections, after pipping Britain’s Tom Pidcock on the finish line.

Tomorrow’s stage is largely flat and is expected to end in a bunch sprint.
