Aston Villa to play all home Women’s Super League matches at Villa Park

ASTON VILLA will play all of their home Women’s Super League fixtures at Villa Park next season, it was announced by the club today.

The team had previously hosted WSL matches at Walsall’s Bescot Stadium, where they will continue to play their games in the FA Cup and League Cup.

Villa will become the third side in the division to use their club’s main stadium as their regular home ground, following the lead of Arsenal, who announced in May that they would play their league games at Ashburton Grove, and Leicester, who will play at Filbert Way.

Villa’s head of women’s football, Lee Billiard, said: “This is another big step forward and represents a continuation of the progress of our women’s programme at Aston Villa.

“Through the support and hard work of many departments across the football club, we have been able to show Villa Park is a commercially viable venue for us.

“In the times we have played there, especially over the last couple of seasons, it has always created a special matchday experience for everyone involved.

“Players and staff collectively share an excitement to call Villa Park our primary ground from 2024-25 onwards.

“Our relationship with Walsall Football Club continues as [Bescot Stadium] will be our secondary venue.”

Villa finished seventh in last season’s WSL which was manager Carla Ward’s last campaign before stepping down.

She has been replaced in the role by former Bayer Leverkusen coach Robert de Pauw.
