HOUSING associations in England are missing at least 90 per cent of workforce data on socioeconomic backgrounds, a National Housing Federation (NHF) report has found.

Researchers also said at least 80 per cent of the workforce data on staff’s caring responsibilities was missing, despite a rise in social landlords collecting this information compared to previous years.

The NHF found the lack of data on equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) is significant given the sector’s role providing homes for “people on lower incomes and for people that may need support at home.”

NHF chief executive Kate Henderson has previously said collecting this information is “vital to the sector’s mission.”

Available figures revealed housing association boards are now more diverse, with “greater representation of women, disabled people and different sexual orientations, as well as greater ethnic diversity.”

But researchers warned that ethnic diversity at the executive level in particular has declined since 2023.
