CASTLEFORD have promised to crack down on anti-social behaviour after the teenage daughter of a club employee was verbally abused during the Super League game against Hull KR.

The Tigers said the 16-year-old girl was verbally abused by a male fan during Friday’s 44-0 home defeat, leaving both the teenager and her parents “extremely upset and disturbed by the incident.”

Castleford added anti-social behaviours towards players and staff by a minority of Tigers fans was also witnessed and that they are currently reviewing CCTV footage.

“We understand that everyone is frustrated with our on-field performances this season, and we are working hard to improve this, however this type of conduct has no place in rugby league,” read a Tigers statement.

“It is wholly inconsistent with the values of Castleford Tigers RLFC and the standards upheld by the majority of our supporters. We will not tolerate any type of anti-social behaviour within our stadium.”
