MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Hull KR forward Tevita Pangai-Junior has been fined and banned for six games after being found guilty of eye-gouging during last Friday’s 36-6 at Leeds.

The 30-year-old Tongan international has made only three appearances for the defending champions since joining them six weeks ago.

York’s Sam Wood and Catalans Guillermo Auspiro-Bichet both received two match suspensions for dangerous contacts in tackles.

SPEEDWAY: Northampton still sit bottom of the Premiership after suffering another narrow defeat, 44-46 at home to defending champions Ipswich on Monday evening.

Richard Lawson top-scored with 10+3 points for the visitors who moved up to second in the league.

Brady Kurtz bagged a perfect 12 from four rides as table-toppers Belle Vue led from the first tape to brush aside King’s Lynn 53-37 in the Premiership’s other fixture.

MEN’S GOLF: Norway’s Viktor Hovland needed only one extra hole to beat Scottie Scheffler in Monday’s delayed play-off for the Travelers Championship at Connecticut’s River Highlands course.

The pair had finished the tournament tied on 21 under, one shot ahead of Collin Morikama with Sheffield’s Matt Fitzpatrick in fourth.

Hovland’s prize money totalled almost £2.75 million and moves him up to twelfth in the world rankings.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Wales are back in action against Germany on Wednesday at the European under-19s championship. The Welsh, who slumped to a 7-0 defeat in their initial Group A game against 12-time winners Spain, are hosting the tournament for the first time.

Germany edged past Denmark 4-3 in their opener.

Croatia face Italy at Caernarfon’s Oval and Ukraine meet Serbia in Bangor for Thursday’s Group B fixtures.
