Manchester City's Reigan Heskey scores their side's second goal of the game during the FA Youth Cup final at the Joie Stadium, Manchester, May 14, 2026

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Reigan Heskey scored an 87th-minute winner as Manchester City beat Manchester United 2-1 in Thursday evening’s FA Youth Cup final. City opened the scoring late in the first half through Floyd Samba, before United’s Godwill Kukonki equalised almost immediately. United have won the cup a record 11 times, including the first five competitions in the 1950s, but this was only their second appearance in a final since 2012.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: It’s regular season champions Sheffield Hatters against runners-up Caledonia Gladiators in the women’s Super League play-off final on Sunday afternoon. Sheffield are attempting to win the domestic treble having also beaten the Gladiators in February’s Betty Codona Trophy final. The men’s final later in the day pits London Lions against Cheshire Phoenix. London finished the regular season twelve points ahead of second-placed Cheshire.

DARTS: Defending champion Luke Humphries beat Gerwyn Price 6-4 in Thursday night’s Premier League final as both players sealed their places in the end of season play-offs. They will be joined by Luke Littler and Jonny Clayton in the last four, despite Clayton crashing to a 6-0 defeat against Littler in their first round match. Bottom-of-the-table Josh Rock continued his miserable run with a 6-3 first round loss to Gian van Veen.

HORSE RACING: Stratford-upon-Avon-based trainer Olly Murphy enjoyed an 80/1 four-timer at Perth races on Thursday with three of his other horses also finishing second. Champion jockey Sean Bowen steered three of the winners home with his brother James partnering the other. Just two weeks into the new season, Olly Murphy currently sits second in the National Hunt Trainers’ Championship behind 2025’s winner Dan Skelton.
