Doku targets FA Cup glory after Manchester City reach final again
Manchester City's Jeremy Doku celebrates scoring their side's first goal during the Emirates FA Cup semi-final match at Wembley Stadium, London, April 25, 2026

JEREMY DOKU admits the scale of Manchester City’s achievement in reaching a record fourth successive FA Cup final is yet to sink in.

But after defeats in his two appearances in the Wembley showpiece, the Belgium winger is determined to get his hands on the trophy.

Doku joined City in the summer of 2023, after their cup final victory over Manchester United, and was on the losing side against United in 2024 and Crystal Palace last year.

The 23-year-old, who scored City’s equaliser as they came from behind to beat Southampton 2-1 in Saturday’s semi-final, said: “I think we as a squad don’t realise what we are doing — fourth time in a row, it’s unbelievable.

“Fair play to everyone in the club. Every year being there after playing against good teams but still reaching the final every time.

“Now we want to win. I’ve not won it yet and it’s something I want to win. It’s something special.”

City could yet end the season with a domestic treble, with their cup final appearance coming during the closing stages of the Premier League title race.

With five games remaining in the league, City trail leaders Arsenal — who have played a game more — by three points.

Doku said: “We know we have the squad to do it. It depends on us — it’s in our hands. We have to play well and focus on ourselves.”

Meanwhile, a City supporters’ group has urged FA Cup semi-finals to be moved away from Wembley after a low turnout on Saturday.

In fewer than 10 seasons, City have made 23 appearances at the national stadium, while the final against Chelsea will be their third visit there in the space of seven weeks.

A reporter had a light-hearted exchange with Pep Guardiola about the number of empty seats on Saturday, but the Spaniard responded by saying the fans will be there for next month’s final.

The 1894 Group urged the FA to consider holding only the showpiece match at Wembley, which has staged the FA Cup semi-finals since the ground reopened in 2007.

A statement from the 1894 Group said: “All semi-finals should be played at club grounds such as Villa Park, as they always used to be. Wembley is special for a final. That’s football tradition.

“In the old days both teams would take 25,000 each and no-one would bat an eyelid.”

City declined to comment.
