MEN’S FOOTBALL: The National League play-offs kick off tomorrow evening just three days after York City sealed the title and promotion to League Two with a stoppage time equaliser against runners-up Rochdale. It’s sixth against fifth when Southend travel to Scunthorpe tonight, with the winner facing Rochdale in Saturday’s semi-finals. Boreham Wood have home advantage over Forest Green Rovers tomorrow with Carlisle awaiting in the last four.
HORSE RACING: Jockey Zac Purton steered Ka Ying Rising to a 20th consecutive victory after they stormed home 4 lengths clear of Satono Reve in Sunday’s Chairman’s Sprint Prize at China’s Sha Tin course. The five-year-old gelding, trained by Australian David Hayes, has now earned over £14 million in career prize money. His only defeats came in January 2024, when he finished second by a nose and a short head in two races.
CYCLING: Slovenia’s world road champion Tadej Pogacar attacked on the Cote de la Roche-aux-Faucons to win Sunday’s hilly 257km Liege-Bastogne-Liege race for a third consecutive time. He finished 45 seconds ahead of France’s Paul Seixas with Belgian Remco Evenepoel a further 57 seconds back in third. Britain’s Ben Tulett was 13th on the same time as Evenepoel. Pogacar’s team-mate Pavel Sivakov was the top climber.
