MEN’S BOXING: Belfast’s Anthony Cacace became a two-time world champion after earning a narrow but unanimous points decision over Jazza Dickens on Saturday night in Dublin to claim the WBA super-featherweight belt. 

Cacace improved his career record to 25 wins and one defeat, while Dickens slipped to his sixth loss in 42 bouts. 

On the undercard unbeaten lightweight Ryan Garner stopped Cristian Bielma in the third round to win his 19th fight.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Japan, the highest-ranked team left in the competition, smashed the Philippines 7-0 on Sunday morning in Sydney to set up an Asian Cup semi-final clash with South Korea, who had thumped Uzbekistan 6-0 in their quarter-final. 

The other last four clash will see nine-time winners and defending champions China, who needed extra time to see off Taiwan, up against hosts Australia, 2-1 winners over North Korea.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: It’s an all-Super League last eight in the Challenge Cup after York eased past Keighley 56-10, Warrington ran in 14 tries to crush Goole Vikings 78-10 and Lenny Marc bagged a hat-trick as the Catalans Dragons cruised to a 58-0 victory over Oldham. 

The other teams in the hat for Tuesday’s quarter-final draw are Wakefield Trinity, 21-time winners Wigan, cup-holders Hull KR, St Helens and 2023’s champions Leigh.

MEN’S CRICKET: Nineteen-year-old paceman Nqobani Mokoena took 3-28 as South Africa cruised to a seven-wicket win over New Zealand in the first leg of their five-match Twenty20 series at Maunganui on Sunday morning. 

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, the Kiwis collapsed to 36-5 before limping to 91 all out. 

Connor Esterhuizen hit an unbeaten 45 as South Africa comfortably reached their target with 20 balls to spare.
