Israeli forces enforce strict clampdown on the occupied West Bank, wounding at least eight Palestinians

ISRAELI forces shot and wounded at least eight Palestinians in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday.

The occupied territories have been placed under strict military control since the beginning of the unprovoked, illegal attack by Washington and Tel Aviv on Tehran.

According to Palestinian health authorities, Israel shot at and also physically assaulted Palestinian citizens in the West Bank cities of Jenin and Nablus following an illegal incursion into the Askar refugee camp.

Meanwhile, according to the International Federation of Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), emergency teams were attacked by Israel in the rural West Bank village of Khirbet Yarza as they attempted to assist the wounded following a settler attack.

The IFRC reported that despite aggression and obstacles placed by Israeli settlers, two citizens — a young man and an 11-year-old boy — were treated for gunshot wounds; as well as an elderly man and woman and two other people who had been brutally beaten by Israeli troops.

“Security forces stormed the area around the main roundabout in downtown Jenin, packed with residents and shoppers, and fired live ammunition at residents,” according to the Wafa media outlet.

There has been no immediate comment on the incidents by Israel.

The attacks are part of a rise in Israeli aggression against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

On Monday, Israeli troops killed two Palestinian brothers in the Nablus Governorate.

The West Bank has been occupied by Israel since the 1967 Middle East war.

Between 2.1 million and 3 million Palestinian Arabs live in the West Bank under both limited self-rule and Israeli military rule.

The West Bank (excluding East Jerusalem) is also home to some 430,000 Israeli Jews who live in 132 settlements (and 124 smaller “outposts”) built under Israel’s occupation.

The vast majority of the international community considers the settlements illegal under international law.
