LEBANON: Thousands of people are fleeing their homes following relentless bombings by Israel as it clashed with militant group Hezbollah, which said it fired missiles in response to the killing of Iran’s supreme leader.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry today reported at least 31 people were killed and 149 wounded in overnight strikes on Beirut suburbs and the south, and Israel confirmed further strikes later in the day

Doctors Without Borders said its teams have witnessed “large waves of displacement” with people fleeing with few belongings.

SOUTH AFRICA: At least six people died when part of a building collapsed in Johannesburg today, emergency services said, with two others trapped under rubble and three missing.

A floor on an upper level gave way onto people below, and rescue efforts were complicated by unstable structures still “caving in.”

An investigation will determine who was in charge of the construction work and whether plans were properly approved.

US: A gunman wearing clothes with an Iranian flag design killed two people and wounded 14 early on Sunday at a Texas bar, with the FBI investigating the attack as a potential act of terrorism.

The shooting occurred hours after the US and Israel launched an attack on Iran, and the suspect, a naturalised US citizen from Senegal, was shot dead by police.

The gunman was identified as 53-year-old Ndiaga Diagne, the Department of Homeland Security said in a statement.

NIGERIA: At least 15 people have been killed after gunmen on motorcycles attacked three communities in north-central Nigeria, Amnesty International said.

The simultaneous raids on Saturday in Niger state saw gunmen “shooting in all directions” and ransacking shops in the latest violence to hit the troubled region.
