Plaid promise to put culture and sport at the heart of Wales’ well being
Plaid Cymru's Culture, media and sport spokeswoman Heledd Fychan

CULTURE and sport in Wales took centre-stage today as Plaid Cymru promised to restore them to underpin the nation’s well-being.

Culture, media and sport spokeswoman Heledd Fychan said: “Culture is not something nice to have, it is the backbone of our identity as a nation.

“Culture and sport make us who we are, they bind us together, and they have the power to transform lives.

“It is the stories we tell, the languages we speak, the artists, musicians, writers, and performers who bring Wales to the world — and bring the world to Wales.”

Ms Fychan told the spring party conference that sport was community, pride and helped the well-being of the nation.

She promised that a Plaid Cymru government will place culture, sport, and wellbeing at the heart of Wales’ national renewal.

“A Plaid Cymru government will give Wales the confidence to shape its own future — and finally step forward as the mature, vibrant, self-assured nation we know it can be.”
