EQUITY has affiliated to Strike Map, the performing arts and entertainment union revealed today.

Equity general secretary Paul Fleming said: “We know that Strike Map is playing an increasingly vital role in supporting strike action across the trade union movement.

“Deepening our collaboration is a natural and positive step.

“We encourage all unions to affiliate with and actively support Strike Map, helping to build the collective strength we need to win.”

Equity was among unions who supported Strike Map-organised megapickets in support of striking Unite Birmingham bin workers.

National backers for the worker-powered map of industrial action also include the Fire Brigades Union, National Education Union, Unite the Union, Public and Commercial Services Union and the British Medical Association.

Strike Map co-founder Henry Fowler said: “Equity’s industrial strategy continues to be a union that is engaged in multiple industrial action campaigns and we look forward to continuing our support for every single dispute.”
