Dispatches documentary on Palestine Action claims government spoke to Elbit before banning it

THE Home Office reassured Israeli-owned arms manufacturer Elbit Systems in 2023 that “the government cares about the harm” Palestine Action was causing them.

A Channel 4 Dispatches documentary revealed the correspondence between the weapons company and the government body which went on to ban Palestine Action two years later.

The Truth Behind the Ban was aired on Monday night after it was initially scheduled for January 22.

It also included a leaked internal intelligence report to the government, which cited the reason for the ban, based on the monetary damages caused to the arms company.

In three of the 385 actions cited in the report, the Home Office was able to claim the value of damages incurred by the company met the threshold to be considered a terrorism offence.

This contradicts earlier statements made by the government and briefings to the press, which accused Palestine Action of a large sinister plot, until yet hidden to the public, as well as links to Iran.
