ICE HOCKEY: Defending champions Belfast Giants came from 4-0 down to beat Coventry 5-4 in overtime on Sunday evening and lead the Elite league by four points with a game in hand over second-placed Cardiff, who won 4-2 at bottom club Fife. 

Nottingham are third despite losing 2-1 at home to Coventry in overtime on Saturday, with Sheffield fourth after their 5-2 win at Manchester and 9-0 crushing of struggling Dundee.

WOMEN’S RUGBY UNION: Gloucester-Hartpury maintained the English Premiership’s only 100 per cent record with a 22-7 bonus point win at struggling Sale, while Jess Breach scored four tries as second-placed Saracens cruised to an 81-0 thrashing of bottom club Leicester on Sunday. 

The other fixtures saw Ealing come from 21-0 down to draw 26-26 at Bristol, and Exeter survive three last-minute yellow cards to cling on for a 38-38 draw with Harlequins.

MEN’S BASKETBALL: Kino Lily junior top-scored with 24 points as Surrey kept up their recent good run with an 89-80 win over Super League table-toppers London. 

Second-placed Cheshire lost 98-99 in the dying seconds at home to Manchester before also going down narrowly 77-75 at Sheffield on Sunday evening. Bottom-club Caledonia edged to a 84-83 win in Manchester, Bristol beat Sheffield 77-67 and Leicester squeezed past Newcastle 102-100.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Glasgow City’s Scottish Premier League lead is down to three points after they drew 1-1 with neighbours Celtic on Sunday and Hearts moved into second with a thumping 6-0 win over Aberdeen. 

Laura Berry scored a first half hat-trick as third-placed Rangers steamrollered bottom of the table Hamilton 11-0, reigning champions Hibs saw off Motherwell 2-0 and Partick Thistle edged out Montrose 2-1.
