FRANCE: Prosecutors raided the offices of X today as part of a preliminary investigation into a range of alleged offences by Elon Musk’s social media platform, including spreading child sexual abuse images and deepfakes.
The investigation was opened in January last year by the cybercrime unit, the Paris prosecutors’ office said in a statement.
Prosecutors also asked Mr Musk and former chief executive officer Linda Yaccarino to attend “voluntary interviews” on April 20.
A spokesperson for X did not respond to a request for comment.
UKRAINE: Russia fired around 450 long-range drones and 70 missiles of various types in a major attack overnight, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today.
The bombardment of at least five regions of Ukraine included a record 32 ballistic missiles and specifically targeted the power grid, Mr Zelensky said.
UNITED STATES: President Donald Trump claims to have won India’s agreement that it will stop buying Russian oil and shift to obtaining fuel from the US and potentially Venezuela.
Mr Trump wrote in a social media post on Monday night that the deal had been reached during a telephone call with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, adding that the move would help to end the conflict in Ukraine.
DENMARK: A poll released by the Danish Broadcasting Corporation today shows a majority of Danes now regard the United States as an adversary rather than an ally.
The poll, conducted following President Donald Trump’s insistence that the US should take over Greenland, showed that 60 per cent see the US as an adversary, with only 17 per cent still describing it as an ally.
