CAMPAIGNERS are raising food and other essentials to support refugees in France and are taking action against racism.
Black Activists Against Cuts (Barac) have so far raised nearly £27,500 in aid as part of their latest campaign to support displaced people in France’s camps and fight for migrants’ rights.
The group said it will spend the funds on aid and solidarity missions for food, warm clothes, sleeping bags, toiletries and other essential items to Refugee Community Kitchen, L’Aberge des Migrant and Help Refugees.
Some of the funds will also be used in to fight against injustice, including justice and compensation for the Windrush Generation, opposing mass deportations by charter flights, climate justice for the global South and more.
“People who are refugees in France have no shelter, no camp, they are living out in the open and it becomes very wet and bitterly cold during the winter, especially at night,” Barac’s campaign reads.
“Most of them are children or young people in their early twenties, many have lost their parents and are alone. They have experienced trauma and loss.”
