Glasgow to march for climate justice

CHARITIES and grassroots groups working for environmental justice, Palestine solidarity and migrant rights are preparing to march together in Glasgow as part of a global day of climate action.

The organisations will take to the streets on November 15, along with comrades around the world, to mark the mid-way point of the UN’s Cop30 climate summit in Brazil.

Backing the march, set to be the biggest in Glasgow since Cop26, migrant justice campaigner Pinar Aksu said: “Everyone should have a safe place to call home, yet millions are forced to leave theirs due to war, poverty and climate breakdown.

“We stand with people around the world who have been the most affected, but who have done the least to cause the climate crisis.”

John Hilley, of Gaza Genocide Emergency Committee (Glasgow) added: “Genocide and climate breakdown are part of the same criminal assault on people and planet, where lives are sacrificed to protect profits and a rigged political system.”

Friends of the Earth Scotland’s Caroline Rance said: “This march is about standing up for each other and creating the world we want to live in.”
