MEN’S CYCLING: Belgium’s Remco Evenpoel became the first cyclist to win both road race and time trial golds at the same Olympics after cruising to victory in Saturday’s road race.

Despite suffering a puncture and bike change 2.5 miles from the finish, Evenepoel still finished a minute and 10 seconds ahead of France’s Valentin Madouas and Christophe LaPorte.

Tom Pidcock was the highest-placed British rider in 13th place.

BOXING: Callum Simpson is the new British super-middleweight champion after winning a unanimous points decision over former belt-holder Zak Chelli in Barnsley on Saturday night.

Simpson improved his unbeaten record to 15 bouts, 10 by knock-out.

On the undercard, Caroline Dubois outpointed Uruguay’s Maira Moneo to claim the WBO’s interim lightweight title.

Dubois is now the mandatory challenger for Katie Taylor’s WBC belt.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Spain face Morocco in the first semi-final of the men’s Olympic football tournament early tomorrow evening in Marseille.

The Spanish were runners-up in Tokyo three years ago but lost to Egypt in their qualifying group.

The Egyptians take on France in the other last four tie.

The French are the only team left in the competition with a 100 per cent record and are yet to concede a goal.
