SPEEDWAY: Belle Vue’s Australian captain Brady Kurtz won the Polish Grand Prix in Wroclaw on Sunday evening to became only the second rider to win four successive Grand Prix rounds. He is now just three points behind defending champion Bartosz Smarzlik, who finished second in Wroclaw, with one event to go. Britain’s Dan Bewley sits in third place, five points clear of Sweden’s Fredrik Lindgren with Jack Holder fifth.

MEN’S CYCLING: Norway’s Torsteen Traeen takes a 37-second lead into tomorrow’s stage 10 of La Vuelta that is due to finish on the category one climb of Larra-Belagua. Jonas Vingegaard, who claimed his third-stage win on Sunday, is in second place with Joao Almeida a further 38 seconds back in third. Britain’s Tom Pidcock sits fourth, 95 seconds behind Traeen, with Ben Tulett the next best British rider in 26th.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: While title holders Hibernian gained a consolation 3-2 victory over Apollon Limasol in the Champions League qualifiers, Celtic moved top of the Scottish Premier League after romping to a 7-0 win at Partick Thistle. Rangers edged out pointless Motherwell 2-1 to move second, Hearts won 2-0 at bottom of the table Hamilton and Aberdeen saw off Montrose 2-0 to notch up their first win of the season.

MEN’S CRICKET: England begin their three-match one-day series against South Africa at Headingley tomorrow afternoon. The Proteas, currently ranked as the world’s sixth-best 50-over team, two places above England, have recalled David Miller, Donovan Ferreira and the highest-rated bowler, slow left-armer Kesha Maharaj for their short tour. The teams will not play a Test match but will end with a three-match Twenty20 series.
