MEN’S FOOTBALL: Reading kick off the second round of the English League Cup tomorrow evening when they host AFC Wimbledon before two-time winners Wolves take on West Ham. Among the other fixtures in the draw 2011’s champions Birmingham face Port Vale, Sheffield Wednesday are up against Leeds, Bournemouth play Brentford, Barnsley meet Rotherham and League Two bottom club Cheltenham are at League One table-toppers Cardiff. 

WOMEN’S CRICKET: Ireland face the Netherlands in Rotterdam tomorrow afternoon looking to preserve their hundred per cent record in Europe’s Division One Twenty20 World Cup qualifying tournament. Amy Hunter, who signed for Surrey this season, scored 114 from 67 balls as the Irish thrashed Germany by 179 runs on Sunday. They have already beaten the Dutch by 8 wickets earlier in the competition. Germany meet Italy in tomorrow’s other game.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Defending champions Hibernian top the Scottish Premier League on goal difference after they eased to a 5-0 win at Partick Thistle, second-placed Celtic saw off Hamilton by the same score and Glasgow City also maintained their hundred percent record with a 1-0 success in Aberdeen. Eilidh Shore scored a late equaliser as Hearts drew 2-2 at Rangers and Motherwell went down 4-1 at home to Montrose.

MEN’S GOLF: Southport-born Tommy Fleetwood won his first ever PGA tournament after finishing three shots clear of Americans Patrick Cantlay and Russell Henley to claim the Tour Championship in Atlanta on Sunday night. World number one Scottie Scheffler was a shot further back in fourth place with Rory McIlroy a distant 23rd. Fleetwood, who won silver at the 2024 Olympics, picked up £7.4 million in prize money.
