MEN’S FOOTBALL: Former Tottenham star Son Heung-Min made his highly anticipated debut for LAFC as the club drew 2-2 with the Chicago Fire.

Just three days after being announced as the club’s latest signing he made his debut in Illinois, entering the game in the 61st minute as a late substitute.

The scores were level at 1-1 when the 33-year-old entered, but Chicago soon pulled ahead through Jonathan Bamba.

Son helped the visitors hit back, drawing a penalty from Chicago defender Carlos Teran, which Denis Bouanga converted for the 81st-minute equaliser.

The Korean star then nearly stole the win for LAFC in stoppage time, only to be denied by a last-ditch sliding block.

MEN’S BOXING: Hiromasa Urakawa has become the second boxer to die from brain injuries sustained at the same event in Tokyo.

The World Boxing Organisation (WBO) announced the death of Japanese boxer Urakawa at the age of 28 yesterday following a bout with Yoji Saito on August 2.

It occurred days after Shigetoshi Kotari, who fought out a draw with Yamato Hata on the same card in Tokyo, died due to injuries to his brain.

The Japanese Boxing Commission has since announced all Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation title fights will be reduced from 12 rounds to 10.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Sunderland have completed the signing of former West Ham defender Arthur Masuaku.

The left-back has put pen to paper on a deal until 2027 and becomes the club’s 10th addition of the summer window.

DR Congo international Masuaku, 31, brings a wealth of experience after he spent six seasons in the Premier League with West Ham before his departure to Besiktas.

“I’m excited to be here and I’m also really happy to be back in the Premier League,” Masuaku told the official club website.

“It’s clear that Sunderland is a top club and I’m grateful for the opportunity. I want to bring a winning mentality and joy to the fans, and I’m excited to get started.”
