SIR KEIR STARMER is facing mass rejection within his own constituency as a large demonstration of Palestine supporters took to the streets to demand he quits.
Two thousand joined a noisy and vibrant protest through the PM’s Holborn and St Pancras seat on Saturday, marking the first anniversary of his re-election as local MP by telling him that the community had turned against him.
In a message to the concluding rally, local campaigner Andrew Feinstein, who secured 7,000 votes standing against Sir Keir as a pro-Palestine independent last year warned: “If he dares stand again we as a community will decide the best candidate to stand against him and we as a community will end his political career.”
Feinstein added that Sir Keir’s “mendacious, corrupt, reactionary, war-mongering, benefit-snatching government is not in our name.”
Shadia Nabulsiyeh from Camden Friends of Palestine told the rally outside Kentish Town station: “Our local elected politician, who is supposed to represent us, is Keir Starmer.
“Keir Starmer whose past year in government is characterised by dehumanising and fascistic rhetoric about migrants and refugees and disabled people; austerity — for public services and welfare but huge resourcing of the war machine and dogged support for Israel while it conducts a blatant, horrific genocide.”
Former British ambassador Craig Murray addressed the banning of Palestine Action and said: “The state is determined to crush the British population and we’re not going to stand for it.”
Other speakers included Holocaust survivor Stephen Kapos and Stop the War vice-president Andrew Murray, whose call for support for left MP Zarah Sultana, who has left the Labour Party, received overwhelming acclaim.
