MEN’S BOXING: Terence Crawford improved his record to 41 fights without defeat as he beat Israil Madrimov by a unanimous points decision to win the WBA super-welterweight belt and become a four-weight world champion.

The undercard saw Mexico’s Jose Valenzuela beat compatriot Isaac Cruz on a split decision to lift the WBA’s super-lightweight belt and Scottish-based heavyweight Martin Bakole earn a fifth-round knockout win over Jared Anderson.

WOMEN’S CYCLING: The USA’s Kristen Faulkner won the Olympic road race gold medal on Sunday after making a solo attack with just over 3kms to go and finishing almost a minute ahead of 2012’s champion Marianne Vos in second and Lottie Kopecky in third.
