Far-right influencer opts for jury trial after denying harassing journalists

FAR-RIGHT social media agitator Stephen Yaxley-Lennon chose to be tried by a jury after pleading not guilty to harassing two journalists today.

The 42-year-old, known as Tommy Robinson, is alleged to have harassed MailOnline journalists Andrew Young and Jacob Dirnhuber and their family members through his X account between August 5 and 7 2024.

Prosecutor Ben Holt told Westminster Magistrates’ Court that none of the harassment contained “direct threats of violence.”

Mr Lennon was told that his case could be heard by justices of the peace, but chose to have a jury trial at a crown court instead.

Senior District Judge Paul Goldspring said: “Mr Lennon I have decided that if you wanted, you can have your case at this court as the powers are sufficient but you have elected to have a jury trial as is your right.”

Lennon smiled after he was released on bail. He is appear at Southwark Crown Court on July 3.
