Campaigner wants to swim with big fish

A HOUSING campaigner who led her estate’s residents against a landlord trying to double their rent announced her bid to stand for London mayor as a candidate for the Something New party yesterday.

New Era estate mum Lindsey Garrett launched her draft manifesto promising rent controls and a mandatory living wage as several Labour luminaries threw their hats into the ring.

Ms Garrett is now vowing to bring a “new era” to the city by integrating all of London’s NHS services, taxing hotels to finance culture and pushing for devolution.
