Long commutes rising, says TUC
THE housing crisis is causing a huge increase in “extreme commuters” who spend more than 15 hours a week travelling to and from work, a TUC study said yesterday.
At least three million people spend more than two hours a day on the journey between their homes and workplaces, a colossal increase of 72 per cent over the past decade.
The TUC said sky-high rents and extortionate house prices, as well as “creaking” infrastructure, are causing longer and more expensive commutes.
