Burnham to go for Greater Manchester mayor

ANDY BURNHAM confirmed yesterday that he will stand in the Greater Manchester mayoral election.

The shadow home secretary was speaking after a Twitter blunder prematurely revealed his ambitions with the appearance of a @Andy4Manchester handle.

However, the runner-up in the Labour leadership election insisted his move should not be seen as a sign that he doesn’t believe the party can win the 2020 general election.
