Putin calls on US to improve relations after consulate raid

RUSSIAN President Vladimir Putin called for “constructive” relations with Washington yesterday after US authorities raided consular property in San Francisco.

The Russian Foreign Ministry protested at a "new flagrant violation of international law" on Monday after the raid on the residential section of the Russian consulate in the Californian city and the separate consul-general’s residence.

"The current level of the ties cannot satisfy us," Mr Putin said yesterday as he welcomed new US ambassador Jon Huntsman to Moscow. "We stand for constructive, predictable and mutually beneficial co-operation."
