Hyundai strike continues over Kona production row
TWO production lines at South Korea’s Hyundai remained closed yesterday as workers continued their strike over building a new 4x4 hatchback model.
About 1,950 out of 3,500 workers Ulsan plant walked out on Friday over the car giant’s plans to shift production from the Accent model to the 4x4 Kona on one line without consultation.
Hyundai has been in discussions with the union since last month on production plans for the Kona, a key model that it hopes will reverse a US sales slump.
