Northern Ireland: Holders Coleraine beat Harland and Wolff Welders 2-0 to set up an Irish Cup sixth-round tie with minnows Dergview, who edged out Maiden City 3-2.

However, last season’s runners up Cliftonville are out after losing 1-0 at home to Dungannon. League leaders Linfield squeezed past Ballyclare Comrades 1-0 to set up a Belfast Derby in the last 16 against Crusaders, 4-1 winners over Glentoran, Strabane won 2-1 at Knockbreda and Queens University thrashed Lisburn Distillery 6-0.

Runaway Championship leaders Larne upset the Premiership’s Newry 2-1, Larne Tech Old Boys won 2-0 in Limavady, Ballinamallard eased past the PSNI 5-1 and Glenavon thumped Rosemount Rec 5-0.

Carrick from the Championship edged out Premiership bottom club Ards 1-0, Warrenpoint saw off Institute 2-0, Crumlin Star won 4-1 at Loughall and Portadown overwhelmed Abbey Hill 5-1 to earn a tie at high-flying Ballymena, who beat Dundela 3-1. 

Scotland: Ross County still lead the Scottish Championship by three points, despite losing 1-0 at Greenock Morton, after second-placed Ayr were beaten 1-0 by struggling Falkirk, whose fourth win of the season moved them off the bottom of the table.

Dundee United drew 1-1 with new basement dwellers Partick, Queen of the South came from behind to win 2-1 at Inverness and Alan Trouten’s injury time equaliser sealed Alloa’s 2-2 draw at Dunfermline.

Wales: Connah’s Quay maintained a one point lead in the Welsh Premier League as they trounced out-of-form Aberystwyth 6-1, Jordan Cotterill’s hat-trick helped second-placed Barry come from behind to win 5-2 at Cefn Druids and champions TNS, a point further back in third, brushed aside Newtown 4-0.

Llanelli beat Llandudno 2-1 in the bottom of the table clash, Caernarfon saw off Carmarthen 3-1 and Cardiff Met eased past Bala 3-0.
