Imposing no-deal Brexit border restrictions would make ‘Windrush look like a minor blip’
Home Secretary Priti Patel

IMPOSING new border restrictions on European migrants after a no-deal Brexit would “make Windrush look like a minor blip,” Diane Abbott warned today.

The shadow home secretary said that Home Secretary Priti Patel’s pledge to abruptly end freedom of movement of labour between European Union countries and Britain would “create chaos” and will put British nationals in Europe at risk.

It was widely reported last week that Ms Patel, who replaced Sajid Javid as home secretary in July, wants to immediately impose hard borders if Britain leaves the EU without any agreement with the economic bloc.
