LABOUR MPs will this week press for a “Hillsborough law” to help families fighting for justice.

They are calling on Home Secretary Theresa May to introduce legislation on inquests providing for bereaved families to receive funding equal to that given to the police.

They also want no time limit for investigations of retired officers, an inquiry into relations between the press and the police, a ban on “unattributable briefings” to the media by officers during incidents under investigation, more powers for the Independent Police Complaints Commission and misconduct in public office to be made a criminal offence.
