GREATER MANCHESTER will ban fracking as part of its plans to become carbon neutral by 2038.
Mayor of the city Andy Burnham announced yesterday that the Greater Manchester authority would be putting planning measures in place to create “a presumption” against fracking for shale gas.
The ban will come into effect on Monday.
