London Mayor calls for emergency investment in social housing as thousands of families live below minimum standards

THE Mayor of London called for emergency investment in social housing today as 343,000 families in the capital are living in homes that do not meet minimum standards.
Sadiq Khan warned that there were stark consequences of the government failing to bring homes to higher standards as figures show that 43 per cent of London’s social housing do not meet the Decent Homes Standard.
Homes that fail to meet the standard include those with serious hazards to health such as damp, mould, excess cold or severe infestations of pests and vermin.
